Missions
As we become aware of and help with other's needs, our needs are lightened.
* Catholic Community Annual Appeal
God has been so very good to us in sending His only Son as our Lord and Savior. He has blessed us with the gift of faith. His risen presence energized each of us. God is never outdone in generosity.
My sicere thanks to one and all for your continuing generosity to the Catholic Community Annual Appeal (CCAA). So much good has been accomplished as we continue toward the building up of the kingdom of God.
Disciples in Mission has offered us the opportunity to talk about our faith and to listen to one another as we share the goodness of the Lord. The better we understand our Catholic faith the better we are able to share it with one another and with those who are in search o fthe goodness of God. The Good News is that we are saved, redeemed people blessed in so many ways.
Our retired priests, seminarians, families, religious education, schools, and other beneficiaries are assisted by the CCAA. Each individual can make a difference as we work together for the continuation of the work of Christ.
Wills and bequests separate from this annual appeal can be helpful in meeting the financial needs of the diocese in the future.
Since God has been so good to us, we need to share that goodness with others in Time, Talent, and Treasure. As a suggested guidline, we are encouraged to give 5% of our annual income to our parish, 1% to the Catholic Community Annual Appeal, and 4% to other charitable purposes. Please consider your fair share.
May the Holy Spirit bless you with much joy and peace for your continuing generosity to the Diocese of Salina!
Sincerely Yours in Christ, Most Rev. George K. Fitzsimons (Bishop of Salina) [Oct04]

* Disciples in Missions
Today our hearts are rejoicing in the good news of Jesus' birth. Our Minds are going to Bethlehem to see the Infant Jesus in the stable. We are welcoming the Infant King.
During February and March we will be preparing for the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus.
In the weeks precedig Easter our parish will participate in the diocesan program "Disciples in Mission". This will be a time "to help all Catholics grow in holiness, becoming more inviting and bring Christ's presence more consciously into all areas of their lives."*
We invite all of you to watch for the up-comming announcements concerning the Disciples in Mission program at St. Xavier. Please pray for our success in this endeavor.
We wish for you God's richest blessings at this Holy Time.

*St. Francis Xavier Parish Foundation
St. Xavier Parish, the church and the school system it supports, are a vital part of our community. The St. Francis Xavier Parish Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to serve the community as a method of directing your financial contributions in the manner you would like them directed.
Created in 199 as a means for the community of Junction City and the surrounding areas to support, assist, develop and endow the parish of St. Xavier with your ideas, goals, and dreams.
Wheather you are an individual, family, organization, or a business, the Foundation will be happy to assist you in answering any questions you may have regarding avenues available to you to make contributions. Memorials, bequest, trust, insurance policies, and direct donations are all examples of the many ways that can be considered. Donations made to the Foundation can be directed to the general fund or can be designated for a specific purpose (Ex. Upgrade to the church, equipment for the schools, or supplies for the ccd classes).
Questions regarding the Foundation can be directed to Bob Wahle at 238-3655 or the parish office at 238-2998.
Thank you for your consideration of financial support to the St. Francis Xavier Parish Foundation.

* The Missionary Society of St. Paul (9/6-7/2003)
The Missionary who will make the Appeal is Father Efiri Matthias Selemobri. Fr. Selemobri is known as "Fr. Matthias" in the USA. Fr. Matthias was ordained a priest on June 22, 1991 in Nigeria.
After priestly ordination Fr. Matthias worked for four years in Nigeria in the formation and vocation departments of the Missionaries of St. Paul. He left for and worked in Cameroon, Africa in 1995 and was appointed to the USA in 1996. Fr. Matthias has been working in the development office of the Missionary Society of St. Paul since July 1996. He lives and works from Houston, Texas. Fr. Matthias has preached Jesus in more than 160 churches in the USA.
The Missionary Society of St. Paul (MSP) [ http://www.mspfathers.org/ ] was founded by Dominic Cardinal Ekandem and established by the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria on Mission Sunday, 1977. Inspired by the teaching of Vatican II, that the Church is Missionarey by nature, the Bishops' Conference of Nigeria, under the leadership of Dominic Cardinal Ekandem, began a seminary, which would train Nigerian clergy to share their experience of the Faith to others throughout the world.
The MSP had their first ordination in 1985. The Society now has 153 priests and over 110 seminarians. They work in eight countries of Africa, (South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, Cameroon, Liberia, Chad, The Gambria, Nigeria), Grenada in the West Indies, the United States, England, and Sweden.
The MSP needs funds for: 1) Sponsoring seminarians, your future priests; 2) Supporting priests in the founding/building of new churches; and 3) Assisting in the rehabititation of orphans and adults devastated by war and the AIDS' pandemic. Your support to this worthy cause will be an immense encouragement to the Nigerian faithful who have contributed generously to date and will continue to do so. Your generous giving will ensure that the dream of the Nigerian Church, to pass on the Faith she has received, is realized. May God bless you!
